Pancreatic Cancer: The Story of Rosaria
“I realized that everything matters, even my blood test: taking a stroll or having coffee with a friend.” I make the most of everything!
Even after receiving a cancer diagnosis, Rosaria continues to exhibit an incredible level of optimism and a strong will to live.
Rosaria started experiencing intense body itching in 2001.
Although she doesn’t have any skin symptoms, the pain is persistent and persistent. The doctor advises her to take a medication to help her relax after stating that it might be the result of her anxiety. When things did not get better, Rosaria made the decision to visit a dermatologist. Following a few days of antihistamines, she had tests done on her blood, urine, and feces.
The results are not favorable, and a liver ultrasound shows that the ampulla of Vater is obstructed and the gallbladder has doubled in size. She then makes the decision to step in, clear the ampulla, remove some tissue, and perform a biopsy. Rosaria has been diagnosed with a pancreatic tumor and neoplasm, and a portion of her organ needs to be surgically removed.
Rosaria is being followed down this road by Professor Memeo.
Above all, though, her husband and a friend who is a doctor shield her from bad news and keep the seriousness of the issue from her until the very last minute. “I didn’t know anything, but my husband always talked to the doctors directly.”
He was a brilliant man who took control of the situation and gave me the confidence to approach the intervention with a different mindset. I didn’t find out I had cancer until they told me I would need chemotherapy.
Rosaria endured ten chemotherapy treatments after receiving a pancreatic report, followed by recurring examinations. Even though she was diagnosed with diabetes, she is now fine and has returned to her normal life. This is likely due to a hereditary predisposition as well as the fact that the pancreas is the organ responsible for producing insulin, which raises the risk of developing diabetes following surgery.
She is followed on this tour by Professor Moschetta:
“He is an amazing person; he gave me the courage to stand again, to respond, and he has been and continues to be a vital source of psychological support for me.” However, Rosaria lost her spouse, the “great love of her life,” to bone cancer in 2010.
Rosaria is an incredibly strong and optimistic woman in spite of her challenges.
“What they do is very important, fundamental… I am a positive person, and I always have been, but the illness made me understand that everything is important: a walk and a coffee with a friend,” he wrote on the envelope that was always under his Christmas tree after the surgery and illness. I make the most of everything.
I smiled when I greeted everyone at the funeral when my husband passed away.
I was blessed to know and love him. He is now well and is usually with me, so this is what I have to consider and what I liked.
Time is running out for Cosimo, who has a pancreatic tumor. Good objectives and practical suggestions for 2023
In 2020, on his fiftieth birthday, he received the diagnosis.
Then came the recurrence and the therapies. In six months, I might not be here anymore. And thus a new world begins. Fear has no place here.
“I will give the tumor a run for its money, even though I know I won’t win the war.” I am determined to win as many wars as I can. This concludes the conversation with 52-year-old Cosimo Caputo, who has a tumor from which he will never fully heal and two teenage kids whom he adores.
How long he has left to live is unknown.
Everyone who receives a cancer diagnosis, including patients and their families, asks themselves this question. Nevertheless, he is resolved to enjoy each day without feeling sorry for himself and, most importantly, without squandering time, which he understands better than most.
The worst thing is to isolate yourself.
One of the finest goals for the new year is to emulate Cosimo’s approach to life. A few thousand years ago, Seneca stated, “Live each day as if it were your last.” However, how is it carried out? And given that you have highly advanced cancer, how can you manage to party and smile?
“You require affection.”
It must be sent and received. And for as long as you can, foster the desire to live and act “normally,” realizing that even that is a privilege. And you have to let people who care about you live with you. You bear a heavy burden when you are aware that you will no longer be there, that you will leave a gap, and that you will hurt people in spite of yourself.
But it doesn’t take long to realize that the worst thing you can do is to isolate yourself; you have to bear that heavy burden by yourself.
Or stress your family by only sharing it with them?
No, it’s not good. The burden lessens when you respond, let people in, and make an effort to go about your regular life.
On his fiftieth birthday, the pancreatic tumor was discovered.
He has been following his “good rules” every day for more than two years, so he knows what he’s talking about.
He was given the worst possible surprise on his fiftieth birthday, December 2, 2020: the news that he had pancreatic cancer. At the edge of surgical resectability, just under 3 centimeters in diameter: “It’s an uphill journey, but we can do it,” the specialists at Milan’s San Raffaele hospital informed him.
Thus, it started:
First, all the reports to accurately diagnose the disease, including those genetic tests, are crucial in today’s world since they permit the use of new treatments that are very successful when certain mutations are present (sadly, in his instance, the result was negative).
Then came January 2021, followed by four months of chemotherapy, a June surgery, and two more months of chemotherapy that began on August 15th. Cosimo describes the chemotherapy as “very heavy and very painful.” I was at home nine days following the procedure, and I never wavered in my resolve.
From the start:
I did everything I could to combat the ill effects and improve my mood by arming myself with confidence, strength, and loads of exercise. However, that chemotherapy was really difficult; it required all of my willpower. even the one I was unaware I possessed.
