It is an enzyme produced by the pancreas while digesting lipids (fats). Its value, along with that of another enzyme called amylase, can indicate pancreas diseases or failure. Pancreas problems may cause lipase to leak into the bloodstream.
Too low or high levels may cause rapid pulse, weight loss, fatty stools, or nausea.

The typical turnaround time for the Lipase test is 1 working day. Do note that while we aim to give you results as quickly as possible, the exact result processing time may vary relating to assays. A: A sample will be obtained from your arm by our certified nurse. Initially, she will use an alcohol swab to cleanse your skin and secure a band around your upper arm to enhance the visibility of your veins. She will insert a needle affixed to a vial to collect the sample, which may fill one or more vials, once she locates a vein.
