Bilirubin is a substance produced by bile as a result of the liver destroying dysfunctional red blood cells and helps digest food. It is a waste product excreted from the body.
A bilirubin test allows assessment of liver function and the presence of conditions such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, anaemia, and gallstones. Certain foods, alcohol, or medication may cause high bilirubin levels. High bilirubin levels commonly cause jaundice.

Bilirubin sample should be taken in the morning and before taking medication. Please refrain from taking biotin supplements for 2 days before the day of sample collection.

Shaking the test tube gently instead of violently.
