Animal Allergy Clinic Walk In Details
On-site by appointment or walk-in. Our blood test detects biomarkers for 17 (seventeen) animal allergies.
The 17-in-1 animal allergy test includes biomarkers for:
- Immunoglobulin E (IgE), which indicates antibody levels.
- Dog
- Horse
- Mouse
- Rat
- Cow
- Sheep
- Rabbit
- Hamster
- Guinea pig
- Budgerigar
- Finch feathers
- Canary bird feathers
- Parrot feathers
- Rose-ringed parakeet feathers
- Goat
Animal allergies are caused by the body rejecting a substance produced by a specific animal. The allergen, which is interpreted as a harmful substance, causes the immune system to overreact by producing antibodies such as Immunoglobulin E (IgE).
Severe sneezing, runny mucus, or skin and eye irritation may indicate that you have an allergic reaction and need to take an allergy test.

Mouse, Cat, Rat, and Pet Allergies: A Testimony
How do you recognise them and how should you react?
These are frequent and can cause respiratory issues and skin problems in both adults and children.
Proteins in the saliva and dander of animals such as dogs and cats commonly cause an allergic reaction, while mites that nest in their fur do so less frequently. Assume a patient susceptible to certain allergens comes into contact with them. In that event, they may have respiratory difficulties, ranging from basic allergy oculorhinitis (stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, burning eyes and throat) to severe asthma episodes.
We talked about it further with Professor Enrico Heffler, an allergist at Humanitas.
Be aware of these symptoms.
What are the symptoms, and why do they appear?
The majority of reactions occur after being exposed to animals like cats, dogs, horses, guinea pigs, and others, as well as their allergens. The most common responses are respiratory, such as rhinitis or asthma, however skin reactions may also occur.
Cats are the most common source of pet-related problems, as saliva, urine, excrement, dandruff, and sweat build up in their fur and spread to furniture and the environment. Individuals who are allergic to cats frequently have immediate and strong symptoms, similar to those induced by horses, albeit interaction with horses is less common. Dog allergies are also frequent, albeit less severe, as are allergies to rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, and birds.
There are so many animals to test for.
Someone who is allergic to one animal should exercise extreme caution because this can eventually lead to allergies to other species. Children who are raised in an animal-friendly atmosphere, particularly from birth, are considerably less likely to acquire allergies. However, the myth that there are less allergenic cat or dog breeds must be dispelled: the differences in symptoms induced by different breeds of the same species are determined by a multitude of reasons, including predisposition, size, and sex of the animal, even the increased or decreased generation of dandruff.
How is it diagnosed?
Assume you suspect you are allergic to an animal or someone in your environment. In that situation, you should schedule an appointment with a professional as soon as possible, particularly if you frequently interact with animals. Typically, two procedures can be used to confirm its presence: a finger prick test and a search for particular IgE in blood.
Finger pricking is easy.
The search for IgE, on the other hand, is conducted through blood testing, and the results are provided in accordance with the analysis laboratory’s schedule.
Treatment methods range from antihistamines to vaccinations.
If the animal cannot be removed, the allergic family member’s contact with the animal should be limited to the greatest extent possible, and the person should seek treatment. It is also recommended to pay special attention to the hygiene of the domestic environment, which includes cleaning the floors, drapes, armchairs, sofas, and mattresses on a regular basis, as well as washing the animal more frequently than usual. Activating air filtration devices can also be beneficial.
To ease symptoms, oral antihistamines, eye drops, and corticosteroids are recommended.
